Vlad Oles got his degree in mathematics from Washington State University in 2019. His dissertation concerned estimation of the Gromov–Hausdorff distance, with Kevin Vixie being on his committee. Vlad became a postdoc at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and eventually returned to the area through becoming an assistant professor at University of Idaho. His interests include geometry, applied statistics, and algorithms, as well as philosophy, policy making, film, and electronic music.
